Gladis Rodriguez, President

Hi! I’m Gladis Rodriguez, an 18-year-old senior at York High School, and I’m honored to serve as your SkillsUSA Nebraska State President. Outside of SkillsUSA, I’m involved in wrestling, soccer, National Honor Society, One Act, FFA, and 4-H. I also enjoy showing livestock and being involved in agriculture. Through these experiences, I’ve developed a strong passion for leadership, service, and creating opportunities for others. I’m passionate about being a servant leader and making a positive impact on those around me. I’m incredibly excited for the opportunity to represent Nebraska SkillsUSA and can’t wait to meet members from across the state, build new connections, and help everyone level up throughout the year. I’m looking forward to making this a memorable year and helping our members Level Up!

Jocelynn Mumm, Secretary

Hello! My name is Jocelynn Mumm, and I am honored to serve as the SkillsUSA Nebraska State Secretary for the 2026–2027 school year. I am a senior at Thayer Central High School, where I am involved in Cross Country, Student Council, One Act, FFA, and Girl Scouts. Outside of school and SkillsUSA, I enjoy doing nails and hair and spending time reading. In SkillsUSA, I compete in Cosmetology and Occupationally Related Competition (OCC).  Joining SkillsUSA has been one of the decisions that has had the greatest impact on who I am today, giving me opportunities to step outside my comfort zone, grow as a leader, and discover a passion for connecting with others. One of my favorite parts of SkillsUSA is meeting and building relationships with fellow members, advisors, and industry leaders. Through these experiences, I have created lifelong connections and learned valuable lessons about leadership, communication, professionalism, and personal growth. SkillsUSA has challenged me to become a more confident version of myself while encouraging me to take advantage of opportunities and continue learning.

MaKenna Nelson, Reporter

My name is MaKenna Nelson and I am a senior at North Platte St. Patrick High School. I am involved in a variety of activities both in and out of school, including SkillsUSA, Pre-Med Club, One Act, Cheer, Saints Leadership, Student Council, Interact Club, Pro-Life Club, Quizbowl, and National Honor Society. Outside of school, I enjoy volunteering in my community, serving at church, and helping with events that support others. Last May, I graduated from Mid-Plains Community College with my Associate of Science degree, and I plan to become a doctor. I am so excited to serve as a SkillsUSA Nebraska State Reporter because I have the opportunity to grow as a leader, challenge myself, and meet people who share similar passions. As a competitor myself, I have been able to compete at the state and national levels, including traveling to Georgia for Nationals and placing first in Opening and Closing Ceremonies. These experiences have shown me how powerful SkillsUSA can be. As an officer, I am excited to give back to an organization that has given me so much to me. In the future, I plan to continue my education and pursue a career in healthcare, and I know the leadership, teamwork, and professional skills I have developed through SkillsUSA will continue to benefit me along the way.

 Kaylee Quintero, Parliamentarian

My name is Kaylee Quintero, and I am a student at Cedar Bluffs High School. I am involved in several activities both in and out of school, including speech, varsity cheer, volleyball, FBLA, and SkillsUSA. Through these activities, I have had the opportunity to build my confidence, meet new people, and develop important skills like communication, teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving. My experience in SkillsUSA has been especially meaningful because it has helped me grow as a leader and step outside of my comfort zone.

I am excited to serve as a SkillsUSA Nebraska State Parlimentarian because I want to make a positive impact on other students and help SkillsUSA continue to grow. I am looking forward to meeting new members, working with the state officer team, and encouraging students to get involved in the opportunities SkillsUSA offers. After high school, I plan to earn my bachelor’s degree in finance with a focus on business, and my goal is to become a lawyer. I hope the leadership, communication, and professional skills I gain through SkillsUSA will help prepare me for my future career and goals.

 

 

 

Jon Kunasek,
Treasurer

Serving as a four-year SkillsUSA member, Nebraska State Treasurer, and two-time National competitor has been a transformative experience. Alongside my commitment to SkillsUSA, I stay deeply involved across various student organizations at my school. What inspires me most about SkillsUSA is how it opens doors for students from all backgrounds. My goal is to support our membership, empower students to uncover their unique strengths, and ensure everyone can fully maximize every opportunity this organization provides.

 

 
 

Cole Miles,
Historian

Hi, I’m Cole Miles. I am a senior at Papillion-La Vista South High School, and I am serving this year as the 26-27 SkillsUSA Nebraska State Historian. I am currently studying to go to UNO for Architectural Engineering after high school. I joined SkillsUSA to better my public relations and speaking skills. In SkillsUSA, I compete in the Graphic Design competitions and Architectural Drafting. Outside of SkillsUSA, I am the ’27 Senior Class Secretary at Papillion South and participate in the ACE Mentor Program through my school’s Capstone STEM Academy.

When it comes to out-of-school activities, I am a huge comic nerd and spend my time collecting comics and action figures from my favorite shows and games. If I’m not busy collecting, I like to watch movies and T.V., cook, or work on my 3-D design skills when time allows. I am someone who is dedicated to my hard work and achievements, and I’m always up for whatever challenges come my way.

Vice President

Hello, I am Miranda Strizek, and I’m currently a sophomore at Wayne State College. This next school year, I will be serving as your College Post-Secondary Vice President. My area of endorsement is STS education, so I hope to gain valuable life lessons to use in my future classroom. When I’m not busy with school work, I love to spend time with my friends and attend concerts. This year, I look forward to serving Nebraska SkillsUSA and connecting with members of all ages!

Jessica Gomez, College/Technical

Hi! I’m Jessica Gomez-Cortez, your SkillsUSA Nebraska College Post-Secondary Vice President. I’m a senior at Southeast Community College Milford-Campus, and I’m enrolled in the Precision Machine & Automation Program. Outside school, I enjoy watching car racing and travel in/out of state. I first joined SkillsUSA during my senior year in high school. I was curious about this organization and the opportunities that it offers. As a chapter member, I attended all local meetings and state leadership conferences. I won the state championship and had the opportunity to attend nationals; the experience let me get out of my comfort zone and slowly become a leader. This journey through high school has encouraged me to continue in college and eventually serve as your college post-secondary vice president. I’m excited this year to connect with all the members across the state and encourage them to became a leader, and connect with all college advisors.
